The plant is named after Charles Wright, an 18th century botanist.
Datura stramonium, a related plant, is an annual with smaller flowers, up to 2 inches in diameter (5 cm).
 Blooming Habits: Large, showy, white flowers, 2 to 8 inches in diameter (5-20 cm), in summer. Globose, very spiny nodding fruit, 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter (2.5-3.7 cm).
