Growth Habits: Evergreen shrub or small tree, 8 to 20 feet tall (2.4-6 m) or more; glossy dark green leaves, 2 to 4 inches long (5-10 cm), up to 2 inches wide (5 cm), cupped downward, with a sharp point at the tip, and occasionally one or two spines on each side.
Watering Needs: Regular water, prefers well drained soils, slightly acidic, tolerates alkaline soils
Propagation: Cuttings with rooting hormone

This cultivar, one of the bests from Ilex cornuta, was discovered in Atlanta's Westview Cemetery in the 1900s.
'Dwarf Burford' is a cultivar that stays dwarf, but does not produce as many fruit as the original.

Fruiting Habits:
Burford's holly has an abundance of showy large red berries, in the fall, without pollination. The fruit lasts for months.
